Effects Liquids. Covers dark surfaces – 18ml Plastic Pot

Realistic limescale effect caused by leaking water, especially found on old steam locomotives.

  • High matt limescale (calcium deposit) effect caused by leaking water.
  • Apply with a fine brush straight from the pot.
  • Limescale effect is water soluble and can be re-wetted and adjusted using a damp or wet cotton bud.
  • Thin with water or Modelmates Translucent thinning liquid.
  • Limescale effect is white. Colour using any of the translucent weathering liquids/washes. Rusty red is a good colour to use with limescale effect because metal is often rusting due to the water leakage and this washes over the limescale, (best use rusty red only in small patches). Mud brown is a good colour to use to achieve a dirty shade. Sand brown is a good colour to use for a limestone shade. Slate grey is good for a general grey shade. Mix in a separate dish and use quickly.
  • Thin limescale effect using Modelmates Translucent thinning liquid.
  • If left uncovered for too long the liquid will dry. If the liquid has dried out, just mix with some Modelmates Translucent thinning liquid to make wet again.
  • Seal with a mist coat of matt varnish spray.
